U.S. trade negotiators arrived amid loud but peaceful protests against a bilateral trade agreement in South Korea

Some 700 South Korean police were on hand at Inchon International Airport on July 9 as U.S. trade negotiators arrived amid loud but peaceful protests against a bilateral trade agreement. Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Wendy Cutler, the chief U.S. negotiator, and other members of her team were greeted by about two dozen protesters. Protests are expected to continue during the talks, and a major demonstration and partial strike is set for July 12.
