''MY fingers are crossed for Harry,'' said author John Irving, joining author Stephen King in pleading with J K Rowling not to kill fictional boy wizard Harry Potter in the final book of the series.

But Rowling made no promises. The three authors were at a joint news conference yesterday before a charity reading at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

As different authors aproch J.K., she sais that she might have to make a hard desision.
