Supernova name change ordered just as winner is picked

A California judge has ruled that Tommy Lee's rock group Supernova, centrepiece of the reality show Rock Star: Supernova, will have to change its name.

This is because there is an existing band with that name, which was formed in 1989 and has released four albums (it also contributed the song Chewbacca to the soundtrack of Kevin Smith's Clerks).

Reuters reports that the original Supernova earlier filed for an injunction preventing the CBS reality show from using the name.
