Rare case of multiple myomas, postmyomectomy and childbirth

Termed as one of the rarest of rare cases, a 39-year old woman, with multiple fibroid and having undergone multiple surgeries, has given birth to a child through Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection method, in a city hospital. Married in 1991 and childless, Shanti of Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu was repeatedly operated upon for removing the myomas, a benign tumour growth from the muscles of uterus. She was hopeless of getting a child of her own, Dr S Chandralekha, Director of Iswarya Fertility and Test tube baby Centre told reporters on Saturday. She had undergone various treatments at different hospitals in the state and the presence of myomas in her uterus was confirmed laparoscopically in 1996 and more myomas were found by ultrasound in 2003, Chandralekha said.
