Montreal Jazz Fest, Stratford Festival
Jun. 12, 2007

For skiers, Canada means Mont Tremblant in Quebec and Whistler in British Columbia. But for music-lovers, it's all about the Montreal Jazz Festival, scheduled this year for June 28-July 8. And for theatergoers, there's the Stratford Festival in Ontario, now through November. The jazz festival consists of 500 concerts - including 350 free events. The program ranges from major shows on outdoor stages to jam sessions, workshops, a daily Louisiana parade at 5:15 p.m., and activities for kids at the Parc Musical. At the Place des Arts esplanade and the Village du Festival, there are places to relax, eat and drink. Special events include a mega-concert kick-off themed like a Brazilian carnival bash, with Carlinhos Brown, June 28, 9 p.m.; an "Afrobeat" party, July 3, 9:30 p.m.; an "Arabian Night" closing party with Rachid Taha and guests, July 8, 9 p.m. For details, call 888-515-0515, or visit http://www.montrealjazzfest.com.
