The Pentagon is considering reducing U.S. forces in Iraq by several thousand troops over the next few months, anonymous U.S. Defense officials said, Reuters reported June 22. The report follows meetings between Army Gen. George Casey, the top U.S. general in Iraq, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Washington the week of June 18 to discuss future U.S. force levels in Iraq, among other issues.
