Many dog owners have strong connections to their pets. For Kevin Weaver, his dog Belle is more than a friend—she's his hero.
When Weaver, a diabetic, recently suffered a seizure and collapsed, his 3-year-old beagle saved his life by biting his cell phone to dial 911. Last week, Kevin and Belle traveled to Washington, D.C., where the brave beagle was honored with an award—the VITA Wireless Samaritan Award—that recognizes the use of cell phones in emergencies. Belle is the first dog to receive the award.
"There is no doubt in my mind that I''d be dead if I didn''t have Belle," said Weaver.
