''Blue's Clues'' turns 10, adds baby brother
Media Release
Aug. 6, 2006

How's this for a birthday present: a little brother?

Kid canine favorite Blue will get just that in a Blue's Clues 10th anniversary movie, Meet Blue's Baby Brother (Nickelodeon, Sunday, 8 ET/PT), but only after playing a game of special gold clues with the show's preschool audience.

Blue's interactive nature — built on pauses that allow children to help the happy animated dog find answers to the clues — has been a key to its success.

When kids loved the show, which almost every kid did, they missed the show when they stopped the normal coarse, and changed blue's co-star.

Steve, as many children and parents know, was Blue's first real-life pal. When Steve Burns, who played the character, decided to leave, producers provided an overlapping transition with Blue's new friend, Joe (Donovan Patton), to avoid upsetting young viewers.

As Blue hits 10, she will get some additional exposure. Nick Jr. is making 10 episodes of Blue's Room, scheduled for January. The spinoff features Blue as a puppet who is able to talk.
