The United States will consider revoking trade benefits under the Generalized System of Preferences for 13 advanced developing countries, U.S. trade officials said Aug. 7. The announcement comes after the collapse of the Doha round of World Trade Organization talks, blamed by some U.S. legislators on a failure of large developing countries to open their markets to foreign goods. The 13 countries under review are Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, The Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela.
