When Something Goes Wrong, What Are You Supposed To Do To Survive?
While skydiving a couple of days ago, a couple from California didn’t know what hit them. They didn’t really know anything was wrong…
Mr. And Mrs. Courteted went skydiving, not thinking that anything was going to go wrong. The couple hadn’t done anything stupid like jumped without their parachutes. But, they had forgotten to repack their parachutes from their last trip. They had just shoved it in the pack, expecting to do it later.
A family friend was driving the plane, so they thought that they were safe, but they weren’t. When it came time for them to open their shoots, they wouldn’t deploy. It was like their worst nightmare.
“I could never imagine that we could have forgotten to pack the most important thing on the trip, how could we be so dumb,” the couple say later from the hospital.
Because the parachute didn’t deploy, they somehow tied the packs together to form some kind of shoot. The method caught the wind just slightly enough to let the couple swing roughly into the nearest tree. “Thank god for our quick thinking,” Mrs. Courteted said later when she was discharged form the hospital.
The fire brigade had received a couple of phone calls that said that some people had seen two people land in a tree and that they were probably still stuck up there. The brigade was there within about 25 minuets. It was pretty good timing. The couple was then rushed to the hospital where they both had a full recovery. They are still going to keep jumping, but now I but that they are going to remember to pack the shoot first.
