Lincoln’s Face Deformed
Paul Fisker
Aug. 14, 2007

It now turns out that one of our greatest presidents had a slight defect to the side of his face. The left side of Mr. Lincoln’s face was much smaller than the other. Doctors, as well as artists and sculptors realize this defect now because Lincoln was mostly photographed from his good side, the right. Because of this slight defect, Abe’s face might seem slightly contorted in some photos, however the great president was mostly careful to always pose for pictures with his good side facing the camera.

Lincoln was also stuffed with several other issues, some of which were life threatening, such as heat illness. Some also report Lincoln having a twitchy left eye. Many noted that his left eye at times drifted upward, independently of his right eye, a condition now known as strabismus. Today, this condition is mainly treated by surgery.
