Hurricane Dean on a Rampage
Sandy Deba
Aug. 21, 2007

Hurricane Dean slams hard into Mexico. Many people will loose their lives, and many buildings will be torn down. The category 5 storm hit the coast of Mexico on Tuesday with full force. Thankfully, the location on the coast was the best that it could be. There was an evacuation in that area, so few were harmed.
A lot of damage was caused by the hurricane. Tin roofing ripped from houses clunked hollowly as it bounced in the wind whistling through town. Strong buildings were brought to their knees. The winds reached 200 mph easily, which gave civilization little chance.
Evacuations were rampant, as people unwillingly left their homes in the hands of the hurricane. At the southern tip of Texas, sandbags were distributed in the resort town of South Padre Island, and residents were encouraged to evacuate. Even Cancun saw extremely strong winds, being well north of Dean's landfall.
Now that the eye has passed over, hopefully we have seen the worst of the storm. Hurricane season is never something to look forward to, however we will always overcome it somehow.
